What to expect at Massage Plus
The Experience: Prepare, Relax, Rejuvenate...
Before a Massage
To get the most from your massage therapy, we suggest the following before arriving at the studio:
|
|
- Completing and signing all client profile and intake forms before you arrive.
- Inform your therapist of any injuries and areas to avoid.
- Giving yourself plenty of time to arrive at the studio. This will help you relax and prepare for your session.
- Staying hydrated the day before. Hydrated muscles are more flexible. Try not to hydrate too much just before your session because it may result in your massage session being interrupted by a trip to the restroom.
- Taking a warm shower or bath to help you relax and open your skin’s pores. Doing so will increase the effectiveness of body lotions and oils. Since massage therapy can increase digestive activity, we suggest eating a smaller meal before the session.
- Clients sometimes fall asleep during the massage. Please inform your therapist if you prefer to remain asleep or be woken up.
During A Massage
- Your therapist will play calming music during your journey. If
you prefer to bring your own music or relaxation recordings, please feel free
to do so.
- Breathe normally.
- Try not to allow your mind to wander. Focus on the experience.
- Avoid tightening your muscles.
- Remain loose – resist “helping” your therapist lift your head, arms,
or legs.
You
may experience:
- The release of emotions.
- Runny nose - massage therapy is known to help open sinuses.
- Deep sleep.
- Client Interaction: During the session, it is our
common practice not to engage in conversation with clients unless they wish to
do so. Your therapist will check in with you periodically to receive your
feedback. We highly encourage you to communicate openly with your therapist if a
pressure adjustment, extra attention to problematic areas, or temperature
changes are desired.
After A Massage
After
your session, it is common to experience the following:
- Feeling as if you have completed a workout accompanied by
possible soreness. Soreness will decrease over time if you receive massages consistently
because your body will become accustomed to them. We suggest taking a warm
Epsom Salt bath to help flush out more toxins.
- It is important to stay hydrated since water helps with flushing
out any toxins from your system. Complimentary bottled water is available at
the studio.
- Sleepiness.
